6 Fun Spring/Summer Date Ideas

By Victoria Robertson on May 11, 2018

The end of the semester is finally approaching and the summer is quickly becoming a reality. As the air outside gets warmer, outdoor activities are finally an option, making dating a lot easier.

When it comes to dating on campus, spring and summer offer a world of options to choose from, whether you enjoy action and adventure or a quiet, intimate setting. So essentially, there’s an on-campus spring/summer date idea for you, no matter your preferences.

So, to help get you started in your date planning, here are six spring/summer date ideas to consider.

1. Picnic

Sure, we’re used to date night, but sometimes, a daytime date is exactly what you and your significant other need. A picnic is a quick, easy and budget-friendly way to spend the day with someone you care about.

You’ll need a blanket, some food (either store-bought or homemade, whichever suits your needs) and good company, and this date is all set. Why make dating more complicated than it needs to be? You’ll impress them without having to go overboard in terms of planning, which benefits everyone.

2. Hiking

If you’re an outdoorsy type, the winter months can be really inhibiting, as you’re stuck inside all day, every day (for the most part) just waiting for warmer weather so you can get back outside.

Luckily, a spring/summer date provides the perfect weather for outdoor activities such as hiking. It’s simple enough that you and your partner won’t have to do too much planning ahead of time, but it does provide that dose of outdoors and adventure that you’ve been waiting for all winter. So check the local weather, see which trails are around you and get going!

3. Pool Day

Granted, not everyone has a pool. That being said, they aren’t all that hard to come by. In the spring/summer, the local, public pools begin to open and even the campus recreational pool is an option. Granted, some campus facilities have indoor pools, but when the weather is finally nice, you’ll want to be outside anyway.

Dating by the pool is pretty easy, as you mainly enjoy one another’s company (potentially with a drink in hand) and sit back and relax. And with the end of the semester quickly approaching, you’ll definitely need that relaxation.

4. Weekend Getaway

If your budget allows and you have the time to spare, planning a weekend getaway is always a spring/summer date hit. You can travel to a local bed and breakfast for the weekend or take a trip that requires a little more time, money and planning.

No matter your budget, there’s a weekend getaway trip that you can plan without the hassle. So take a look at what’s around you (or consider that vacation you’ve always wanted to take) and get to planning, because it’s going to be well worth it, I promise.

5. Movie Date

The movie date is a tale as old as time, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good spring/summer date idea. Movies are a year-round situation, and luckily, that also means it’s a good back-up for when the spring/summer weather isn’t as nice as you’d like it to be.

Plus, summer months typically mean that local, outdoor theaters are opening their gates as well, providing you with another, unique spring/summer date idea that will impress without burning too big of a hole in your pocket. So take the time to plan ahead (or just wait for a rainy day, as I’m sure there will be plenty of them) and enjoy some of the greats that Hollywood has to offer.

6. Mini Golf

Last, but definitely not least, there are a slew of outdoor activities to choose from in the spring/summer, but a great date idea is playing mini golf in the nice weather. Mini golf is one of those generic first dates, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun. In fact, mini golf is a great date, especially when the weather is warm.

Whether it’s day or night, mini golf is an option, and one that you’ll both enjoy. It doesn’t have to be your only date destination, or you can even make a competition out of the day, but no matter what, you’ll have fun.

So really, no matter your dating preferences, there is a spring/summer date idea out there for you and your significant other. So take some initiative, use these six ideas to start brainstorming, begin planning and enjoy the beautiful weather! After this past winter, we could all use some relaxation and sunshine, right?

In addition, if none of these ideas fit your preferences, use them to begin brainstorming your own spring/summer date ideas to ensure the last few weeks of the semester are spent doing something you’ll enjoy with a person that you’ll enjoy doing it with.

Have fun!
